You don't need accounting software
Many early companies keep their books in a spreadsheet. That is enough: Cass recognises a sales register, an expenses sheet, a cash book and a full ledger, and finds the header row and each column by itself. You check its reading before anything is saved. See Excel and Google Sheets.
The least you need
A bank statement on its own confirms your balance. Add your books for the full diagnosis: burn, runway, customers, spending, tax dates and the checks.
